NAG Convictions.

LEE TURNAGE 10th November 2025 On the Colchester WNBR there was an attack on one of the riders. Lee Turnage was arrested soon after the attack at the Leather Bottle pub and was charge with ABH soon after his arrest and later pled guilty to all of the charges against him. On the 10th of September Mr Turnage attended Colchester Magistrates Court for sentencing. But the magistrates felt that sentencing Mr Turnage was outside there powers So the case was sent to the Crown Court in Ipswich. At the Crown Court in Ipswich on the 10th November Mr. Lee Turnage was convicted of ABH. Mr. Turnage was also ordered to pay compensation to the victim. SUSPS - Suspended sentence order - imprisonment Committed to prison for 14 Months suspended for 24 Months. The defendant must comply with the requirements within the supervision period. In the event of activation of sentence: 0 bail remand days to count. Total custodial period 14 Months. Supervision period: 24 Months. RAR - Rehabilitation activity Rehabilitation Activity Requirement: Offender to comply with any instructions of the responsible officer to attend appointments (with the responsible officer or someone else nominated by them), or to participate in any activity as required by the responsible officer up to a maximum of 15 Days. UPWR - Unpaid work. Requirement to be completed within 12 months. Unpaid Work Requirement: Carry out unpaid work for 75 Hours within the next twelve months. This work will be supervised by the responsible officer.

SAM RICKY GILLEARD SMITH 1st March 2021 On the 2019 World Naked Bike Ride in Clacton, A guy called Sam Ricky Gilleard Smith used some threatening, abusive, and insulting words against the riders as well as threatening to throw eggs at the riders which he later carried out. This man has now been convicted at Chelmsford Magistrates Court of two counts under section four of the public order act 1986 and we as World Naked Bike Rides will always go to court when we are the victims of a hate crime. People need to know that public nudity is a lawful activity and that attacks verbal or physical on people like us will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. At the hearing on 1st March 2021 at Chelmsford Magistrates Court, Sam Ricky Gilleard Smith changed his plea to guilty to the following charges in light of overwhelming evidence against him. Two counts of Using threatening, abusive, insulting words and behaviour to cause harassment alarm distress. This case has taken 18 months to come to court and we are very happy with the outcome. However, we have video evidence that shows Mr. Smith driving erratically and in a way likely to be dangerous. The police failed to prosecute him for the driving offenses of which he is clearly guilty. At the trial the crown prosecutor told the witnesses that she was not aware of his driving offenses and that it was unlikely that he would be prosecuted.
